Your HVAC Should Be Working For You, Here’s How

TIP! Get all of the details regarding a broken system before calling for repair. Get information on the make and model, plus if you have information on the history of maintenance, that will help, too.

HVAC systems can bring you immense joy and immense pain. In addition to the discomfort of living in a home where the heating and/or air conditioning don’t work, you’ll likely be worried about the expense of fixing your HVAC system. The easiest thing to do is to study the solid HVAC tips below, that will show you how to keep the unit running the right way well into the future.

TIP! Before contacting a repair service, do a short tour of the entire home. Note which of your rooms are hot and which are cold.

Check out the system that you have before you call a professional. Look for the maintenance history and brand and model. This will facilitate the process when your contractor asks for this information.

TIP! Clean the fan blades and coils on the condenser fan every spring. Before you begin cleaning the unit, make sure that it is unplugged.

Clean the fan blades and coils prior to summertime. Always shut the power off before doing any work or cleaning on the unit. In addition, be sure to get rid of any leaves or other debris that may have accumulated on the outside condenser.

TIP! When the leaves start to fall, the HVAC equipment can be harmed. Clean outdoor units often to remove leaves.

If your condenser units are outisde, make sure any debris is cleaned from them regularly. Debris quickly gathers here, even more so if there is a storm. This can cause major issues with your system. It may begin to overheat, causing massive damage.

TIP! Find a place that is shaded for your compressor. If it sucks in cool air, it will need to work less to coll the air inside, which can make it last longer.

As you notice the tress begin to lose their leaves, keep an eye on your outdoor condenser unit. Be sure to clean your fan grill frequently when trees nearby are shedding. The air needs to be unobstructed into the fan, and any blockages create performance issues for the whole system.

TIP! Put your outdoor unit in places with shade. If your air conditioner is able to constantly suck in cool air, it won’t have to work overtime to cool your space, which can in turn save you money on your electricity bills.

If your fan condenser has oil ports, you must lubricate it once per year. Such ports tend to have coverings made of rubber or metal. Chose SAE 20 oil, which has been proven to be the most effective.

Hvac System

TIP! If you are a homeowner, or if you can get permission from your landlord, install double-paned windows in place of any single panes in your home. During the summer, the use of double-pane windows will help keep the cool air locked inside of the home.

A home’s HVAC system is the key to ambient comfort. Your home will not be livable without a well maintained HVAC system. Avoid this by using the tips listed here.
