You Can Handle All Your HVAC Woes Easily With The Help Of This Article

TIP! Before calling anyone to repair your system, know what system you have. Take a look at the system or the owner’s manual to find the name and model number.

The HVAC is something that many people want to understand, but they believe it is too difficult to tackle. However, this does not need to be true. This guide provides some great advice that makes understanding easy.

Check the whole house before you call for help. Figure out which rooms are too cool or warm. This gives the repairer a starting point to work from.

TIP! Before choosing an HVAC contractor, think of what you wish to have done. It will be hard for a contractor to give you a price estimate over the phone if they have not seen your current system.

If you have condenser units outside your home, be sure to clean out the debris from them often. Leaves and debris can accumulate quickly, particularly following storms, and that can cause problems for your system. It will damage the system by overheating.

TIP! Clean the coils and blades in your condenser at the beginning of summer. If you are doing more than a light surface cleaning, make sure that the power is shut off to the HVAC unit.

Don’t let grass clippings pile up against your outdoor condenser. Aim your grass cuttings in a direction away from your unit. Make sure you move around the unit and blow the leaves away from it while blowing your leaves.

TIP! Make sure that you regularly clean debris that might build up on external condenser units. Your HVAC system may run into problems after storms if it is surrounded by debris.

Your outdoor HVAC units might suffer when your trees lose leaves. When the leaves fall from nearby trees, clean the grill of your fan often. When blockages restrict the flow of air to the fan, you could end up with serious issues on your hands.

TIP! Don’t get grass clippings on your outside unit. When you work with your lawn mower, make sure it spits the grass to the side opposite of your unit.

Lubricate the oil ports on your condenser once each year. You will notice these ports have a rubber or metal cap covering them. Your oil should be an SAE 20. This particular oil is very lightweight and it only requires about 10 drops per port.

TIP! If you can choose the place where your outdoor compressor goes, pick a spot with lots of shade. The cooler the air that the unit is able to access, the less work it has to perform.

A good place to place your compressor unit outside is in a shady spot. When your unit takes in cool air, it takes less energy to tool the air, thus boosting efficiency.

TIP! Put outdoor condensers in the shade. This will help you save on your energy bill.

Your HVAC system isn’t as complicated as it first appears. This is a difficult task to learn about, but you can do it if you follow the tips outlined above. Begin now to start doing well!
