Want Information About Hvac? Look For Good Tips Here!

TIP! Know what work you want done before you select an HVAC contractor. A contractor will not be able to give you an accurate price without accurate information about your system.

Most people assume that HVAC info is hard to learn about. Read on to learn all there is to know about them. Keep reading for some great tips on the subject.

TIP! Clean the coils of your condenser fan each month. Always turn the unit off before you do anything to it, including leaning.

Clean the coils and blades in your condenser at the beginning of summer. Make sure your power is off before doing more than cleaning, such as working on the unit. Leaves and debris can build up inside the unit and cause damage.

TIP! If you have outside condenser units, make sure to regularly clean the debris that builds up. Wind can pile up all sorts of debris against its grill.

Each spring it’s time to clean the inside of your condenser unit, including the fan and the sensitive coil. Before you begin cleaning the unit, make sure that it is unplugged. Then, remove the grill, then remove the blades and begin the cleaning process of the blades and the unit.

Cover your unit when you are mowing the lawn. Direct the clippings away from the equipment. Also do this when blowing leaves or shoveling snow.

TIP! Don’t let grass clippings pile up against your outdoor condenser. Make sure you shoot the clippings in the other direction from the unit.

The operation of your HVAC system can be in danger when the tree leaves begin to fall. Frequently clean the fan grill when trees are shedding leaves. A blocked unit can quickly become a broken unit.

TIP! Lubricate the oil ports on your condenser once each year. You can find these ports covered with rubber or metal caps.

You must keep your HVAC systems oil ports lubricated annually. The port usually has either a rubber or metal cap on top of it. Use SAE 20 oil that is non-detergent and lightweight, and put 10 drops or fewer in each port, but make sure to avoid overfilling them.

TIP! If you can choose the place where your outdoor compressor goes, pick a spot with lots of shade. If the unit is taking in cooler air, the efficiency will be boosted since it will not need to work as hard.

Once it grows cold outside, turn off your outside condenser unit. If the outside temp is under 60 degrees, turn the unit off to prevent damage. This helps your system remain in good working order.

TIP! When the weather cools down, turn your outdoor condenser off. If temps go below 60 you run the risk of damaging a unit that remains on.

If you’re ready to become involved in HVAC repairs, then these tips should provide the boost you’ll need to get the ball rolling. Everything will work well for you as long as you follow the advice given here. Use the tips and you might be able to make money soon.
