Top Tips About Hvac That Anyone Can Follow

TIP! To make sure your condenser fan works properly, keep the fan blades and the coils clean. Turn off your power before doing any job like this.

While a great HVAC system is wonderful to have, one that is bad can wreak havoc. Not only are they expensive to fix, just living in an environment with uncomfortable temperatures makes it even worse. Therefore, it is important to know how to maintain your system, and what to do if you need to replace or repair it.

TIP! Try to prevent debris from getting in your HVAC unit. The grill on the fan can become cluttered with debris, which will cause a serious operating deficiency.

If the outside of your home has condenser units, ensure they are constantly cleaned. You don’t know the amount of stuff that can pile up right after heavy winds or a storm. It will damage the system by overheating.

TIP! If the condenser fan has oil parts, then you need to lubricate it at least once per year. You’ll see that the ports here are closed with a rubber or metal cap.

Lubricate your condenser yearly if it has oil ports. Most of these ports have some sort of protective cap covering them. Choose an oil graded SAE 20, it is non-detergent and lightweight. Place about 10 drops into each of the ports, taking care that it does not overfill.

Put your outdoor unit in places with shade. It will help you save on your energy bill when you do this.

TIP! To help keep your energy costs down, have your heating and cooling system serviced at least once a year. During your service visit, the serviceman will inspect the unit’s motor, oil the unit’s moving parts and ensure the unit has proper freon levels.

As the temperature outside drops, remember to turn off your outdoor condenser unit. Avoid damaging the unit by turning it off when the outdoor temperature drops below 60 degrees. This can ensure your unit is working well throughout the years without the cost of repairs.

TIP! If you are going to be gone during the day or on vacation, turn the temperature up on your air conditioning unit. The house will heat up, but not too much.

A programmable thermostat is a simple way to help save money on air conditioning costs. It changes the temperature so the system isn’t in use when it’s cooler outside or no one is home. Also, you can find a thermostat that is controllable from a computer or smart phone.

TIP! Don’t let your house get too hot. Expect an air conditioning unit to drop the temperature down 20 degrees within a short amount of time.

Your home’s HVAC system is critical to providing a comfortable environment in your home. If you don’t keep it maintained well, then you won’t have a nice place to call home in the end. Avoid this by using the tips listed here.
