You might think it’s nearly impossible to learn anything about HVAC. But it’s not that hard, and the information here is easy to digest. The reason for that is that you will get great advice and learn quite a bit about this subject.

TIP! Don’t let grass clippings pile up against your outdoor condenser. Make sure the grass does not get in your unit.

Always make sure you are up-to-date about your HVAC unit. Write down what brand your system is along with the model number and, if they’re available, maintenance records. This will facilitate the process when your contractor asks for this information.

TIP! If you want to know where you should put an outdoor compressor, you should place it somewhere where there is a lot of shade. The cooler the air that the unit is able to access, the less work it has to perform.

If your HVAC system us giving you issues, take a look around the house prior to calling a contractor. Determine which rooms feel cold and which feel hot. Give this information to your contractor when they arrive.

TIP! In order to boost efficiency, place new outdoor units or move your current unit to a place which resides in the shade. As it brings in cool air to cool, you will save a lot of money.

Keep outside condenser fans running smoothly by cleaning fan blades and coils before the summer begins. Except when you do superficial cleaning, you need to always make sure the power is off on the unit. Remove leaves and debris from the condenser outside.

TIP! Be sure to have twice annual HVAC system checks. It’s best to have it checked before you turn it on for the summer and again for the winter.

If the outside of your home has condenser units, ensure they are constantly cleaned. Your HVAC system may run into problems after storms if it is surrounded by debris. Left unchecked, your unit is more likely to break down.

TIP! Turn off your outdoor condenser when it becomes cold out. When the temperature goes below 60 degrees, shut off the unit in order to prevent damage.

Do not allow grass clippings to cover the outdoor unit of your HVAC system. Turn your lawnmower in the opposite direction. The same thing should go on when you blow leaves, so take your time when you’re working around HVAC units that are around when you’re blowing debris around.

TIP! Replace any single-paned windows with double-paned versions. Double pane windows will allow you to use less air during the summer because cooler air will stay in your house.

If your condenser comes with oil ports, you should lubricate it yearly. These ports are typically covered with caps made of metal or rubber. Put 10 drops of lightweight, non-detergent SAE oil in each port. Be careful not to use too much.

TIP! A good way to save money with your air conditioning is by installing a programmable thermostat. Programmable thermostats can automatically dial back settings, saving you money.

If you have an interest in HVAC, that information should have been quite valuable. You should be able to get the results you want if you educate yourself on the topic at hand. If you use this advice, you will benefit from it.
