The More You Know, The More Of A Master Of HVAC You’ll Be

TIP! Know what type of system you currently have before calling someone to fix it. Get information on the make and model, plus if you have information on the history of maintenance, that will help, too.

Lots of folks are interested in HVAC issues, but they don’t know where to begin learning about them. This does not have to happen though. Use these thoughts to help increase your understanding.

TIP! If your HVAC is running into problems, check out each room in your house before calling for assistance. Figure out which rooms are hot and cold.

When you call an HVAC system for help, you need to be aware of what you need them to do before calling. A contractor cannot give an accurate estimate without looking at your system. In addition, you need to be able to tell the contractor what you have already tried. So, know this information in advance.

TIP! To make sure your condenser fan works properly, keep the fan blades and the coils clean. Always shut the power off before doing any work or cleaning on the unit.

Before the summer you should clean out your condenser fan’s blades and coils. Before you clean the unit, be sure to turn off the power. In addition, be sure to get rid of any leaves or other debris that may have accumulated on the outside condenser.

Clean the debris on your condenser units. Debris can pile up after a storm, bringing potential damage with it. It can cause your system to malfunction by overheating.

TIP! Your HVAC system could suffer when trees begin dropping their leaves. Make sure you clean out your fan grill often once nearby trees start shedding their leaves.

When you cut the grass, make sure your mower isn’t tossing clippings toward your outdoor units. Aim the grass clippings in the other direction. This also applies to blowing leaves or moving debris. Just be careful with that exterior HVAC unit.

TIP! If there are oil ports on your fan condenser, lubricate it annually. You will notice these ports have a rubber or metal cap covering them.

As the leaves are falling off the trees, your HVAC system can really take a hit. Be sure to clean your fan grill frequently when trees nearby are shedding. You can head off future problems that can be caused by blockages by making sure there is a free flow of air to your fan.

TIP! Have the HVAC system serviced twice per year. It’s best to have it checked before you turn it on for the summer and again for the winter.

Understanding your HVAC system is not that complicated if you read the helpful tips in the above article. Without information such as that found above, the topic can be tough to crack. Start as soon as you can for the best results.
