Simple HVAC Strategies You Can’t Go On Without

TIP! Prior to putting in a service call on your HVAC, be able to identify it. Learn the brand, model, and if you have it, the maintenance history.

An HVAC system that’s good will be a welcome addition to any home, but ones that don’t work well can cause trouble. Repairing an HVAC unit is expensive and it can take a while before your home is once again a comfortable environment. Follow these helpful tips on dealing with your HVAC system.

TIP! Inspect the temps in your home before you call a service to help you with any HVAC issues you’re having. Make note of which rooms are cold and which are hot.

Clean the coils and blades in your condenser at the beginning of summer. Always shut off all power to your unit for any work beyond superficial cleaning. Also, be sure to clear leaves and debris from your condenser unit.

TIP! Before choosing an HVAC contractor, think of what you wish to have done. Providing you with an accurate estimate over the telephone may be difficult to impossible is they can’t see the system you have.

Each spring, try cleaning the fan blades and coils on the condenser fan. For safety, always turn the power off first. Next, remove the grill, take the blades and clean them gently, then clean the actual unit.

TIP! Clean the debris from outside units often. The dirt could pile up and harm your system.

If your fan condenser has oil ports, you must lubricate it once per year. A rubber or metal cap is typically placed over such ports. You should select an SAE 20 oil since it is lightweight and does not contain detergent. Be sure to use just 10 drops or so, or your system may overfill.

Hvac System

TIP! As the leaves are falling off the trees, your HVAC system can really take a hit. Whenever leaves are falling, consistently clean the fan grill.

It is very important that your HVAC system is serviced two times a year. The normally recommended time for HVAC system inspections is once before the peak cooling season when it gets hot and you’ll be using your AC, and once before the peak heating season, during the cold months when you’re likely to be using your heat. Even if nothing seems wrong, checking it out can help you find and fix potential issues.

TIP! Lubricate your fan condenser if it has oil ports. The port usually has either a rubber or metal cap on top of it.

Replace single pane windows by installing double pane, if possible. They help cool air remain inside your home, effectively cutting back on how much you have to run your air conditioner. Likewise, heat is better retained during the winter.

TIP! A shady spot is always a good choice for the placement of your outdoor compressor. If your unit is sucking in cooler air, it will have less work to do to cool that air as it sends it inside which boosts efficiency.

You need a good HVAC system to keep your home comfortable. If you do not take good care of it, you home isn’t comfortable. To ensure this never happens to you, keep the tips you’ve read today in mind.
