No More Struggle – HVAC Success Is Yours!

TIP! If your HVAC doesn’t seem to be working properly, check things out yourself prior to calling in a technician. Make note of which rooms are cold and which are hot.

Having a well running HVAC will help make your home comfortable. They can be costly to repair and can lead to miserable living conditions. The easiest thing to do is to study the solid HVAC tips below, that will show you how to keep the unit running the right way well into the future.

TIP! Know what work you want done before you select an HVAC contractor. Providing you with an accurate estimate over the telephone may be difficult to impossible is they can’t see the system you have.

Before you start calling to find someone to fix your unit, make sure you know the type of system that is installed. Take a look at the system or the owner’s manual to find the name and model number. The contractor will likely need all of this information.

TIP! Clean your fan blades and coils each spring to ensure that your condenser fan operates at it’s best. Before you do clean the coils and fan blades, always take the precaution of turning off all power to the unit.

If your HVAC is giving you problems, tour your home before calling a technician. You will be looking to see which of your rooms feel hotter or colder than they should be. This information will help the contractor determine where the problem is and how to fix it.

TIP! You should clean your condenser fan’s blades and coils every spring. Before you do so, shut off the power to ensure that none of the parts will move while you work on it.

Clean your condenser’s fan blades and coils come spring. Except when you do superficial cleaning, you need to always make sure the power is off on the unit. Additionally, remove leaves and any other debris from the outside condenser unit.

TIP! When you cut the grass, don’t cover the outdoor units with their clippings. Aim your grass cuttings in a direction away from your unit.

If the condenser for your HVAC system is located outside, make sure you clear away any debris that might settle in or around it. After a wind or rain storm things may pile up, causing problems with your system. Left unchecked, your unit is more likely to break down.

TIP! Your outdoor HVAC units might suffer when your trees lose leaves. Make sure you clean out your fan grill often once nearby trees start shedding their leaves.

Lubricate your fan condenser at least once a year. You’ll see that the ports here are closed with a rubber or metal cap. Choose a SAE 20 oil whch is lightweight and non-detergent and place 10 drops or less into each port, ensuring it doesn’t overfill.

TIP! Lubricate your condenser yearly if it has oil ports. These ports are typically covered with caps made of metal or rubber.

The HVAC system can determine your overall comfort level. If you do not take good care of it, you home isn’t comfortable. Use the tips located above to help you maintain your system or choose a new system.
