No More Struggle – HVAC Success Is Yours!

TIP! Check the whole house before you call for help. You will be looking to see which of your rooms feel hotter or colder than they should be.

A lot of homeowners like having HVAC installed within their home. This is the system which regulates the temperature inside the home. Becuase it’s a machine, it may require professional installation and maintenance. The following tips will help you understand how to handle your HVAC unit.

TIP! Understand what you want before talking to a contractor. Providing you with an accurate estimate over the telephone may be difficult to impossible is they can’t see the system you have.

If you have some problems with the HVAC system, check out your home before calling a contractor. Determine which rooms are hotter or colder than they should be. This can help the contractor determine the problem areas quickly and fix the problem easily.

TIP! Help the outside condenser fan run efficiently by cleaning the coils and fan blades before the summer starts. Turn off your power before doing any job like this.

Don’t hire a contractor until you know a little about what you are facing. It’s hard for these contractors to give phone estimates without seeing the current system you have. If you are unable to explain the work that needs to be taken care of, the conversation will be even less fruitful. It’s important to know this beforehand.

TIP! Don’t get grass clippings on your outside unit. Shoot grass the other way.

To make sure your condenser fan works properly, keep the fan blades and the coils clean. Before you clean the surface, be sure to turn off the power. Remove leaves and debris from the outside condenser.

Don’t let grass clippings pile up against your outdoor condenser. Turn your lawnmower in the opposite direction. Also do this when blowing leaves or shoveling snow.

TIP! Turn off outdoor condenser units when weather turns cold. The unit will become damaged if you do not take care of it.

If there are oil ports on your fan condenser, lubricate it annually. Such ports tend to have coverings made of rubber or metal. Pick out a SAE 20 type of oil because it has no detergent, is lightweight, and you should put around 10 drops in the ports but make it to where they don’t get too full.

TIP! Update the windows in your home to double-paned if you own it. Having a double pane window helps limit your need for air conditioning during the summer months.

There are plenty of tips that will help when you find yourself dealing with a contractor. These tips are found in the article above, of course, but there are others as well. Always be sure that your home heating, ventilation and air conditioning are properly installed and well maintained. Use the tips shared in this article and you will be sure to make the best choice for either installing or having work done on your HVAC unit.
