HVAC Tips, Tricks And Techniques You Need

TIP! Prior to putting in a service call on your HVAC, be able to identify it. Know what the manufacturer’s name is, which particular model you have and what’s gone on with the unit in the past.

The only way your home can always be a desirable temperature is if you are properly heating and cooling it. Due to this, your HVAC must remain in working order. Poor maintenance leads to undesirable living conditions. Below, you will find some great tips that range from finding a good contractor to ensuring your unit is working properly.

TIP! If you are having issues with your HVAC, do a tour of your house before you call in help. While you are walking through the house, gauge which rooms are the coolest and which are the warmest.

You should clean your condenser fan’s blades and coils every spring. Be sure to turn the power off first; you don’t want anything to move. Then, remove the grill, then remove the blades and begin the cleaning process of the blades and the unit.

TIP! To make sure your condenser fan works properly, keep the fan blades and the coils clean. Always shut the power off before doing any work or cleaning on the unit.

Make sure clippings don’t get on your outdoor units when your mowing your lawn. Shoot the grass away from the unit. When blowing leaves, do the same. Always take care when passing your HVAC units while moving leaves, grass or other debris.

TIP! If you have condenser units outside your home, be sure to clean out the debris from them often. After a wind or rain storm things may pile up, causing problems with your HVAC system.

Some fan condensers may contain oil parts, and if yours does, ensure it is lubricated at least once per year. These ports have a metal covering. Sometimes it is rubber. Pick a type of SAE 20 oil that is non-detergent and lightweight. Place 10 or less drops into every port to avoid overfilling.

TIP! Cover your unit when you are mowing the lawn. Turn your lawnmower in the opposite direction.

If possible, put your HVAC in a shaded area if it is outside. As you get your air conditioner to suck in cool air it won’t have to do too much work to cool it which saves you some money.

TIP! Your HVAC unit may suffer when trees start to lose their leaves. The grill on the fan can become cluttered with debris, which will cause a serious operating deficiency.

It is very important that your HVAC system is serviced two times a year. This should be done in the fall and again in the spring. Although there might not be any noticeable issues, it is important to provide regular upkeep to prevent bad things from happening.

TIP! Lubricate your condenser yearly if it has oil ports. Most of these ports have some sort of protective cap covering them.

This article has given you some excellent basics on keeping your HVAC system maintained correctly. Do not let neglect cause major issues. Use the information above to make sure it’s doing well, so that you don’t get home and find your home is too cold or too hot.
