HVAC Getting You Down? These Tips Will Help

TIP! Before you contact people to assist you in getting your system fixed, know what kind of system you’re working with in the first place. Look for the maintenance history and brand and model.

You might not pay attention to your HVAC system in the home until it starts malfunctioning. Then, it will become very important. Finding the right person to maintain or install an HVAC system can be complicated. This article will make the process easier.

TIP! If your HVAC system is acting up, take a tour of the house prior to calling a professional. Determine which rooms feel cold and which feel hot.

When you start making calls to get someone to help with your HVAC system, it’s a good idea to know what system you have before that phone call. Know the brand name and model number. It is also helpful to have the maintenance history. In this way, you can be sure your repair person has all vital information.

TIP! When you cut the grass, make sure your mower isn’t tossing clippings toward your outdoor units. Direct the grass clippings in a direction away from the HVAC unit.

Clean your fan and coils when the weather begins to warm. Before you do clean the coils and fan blades, always take the precaution of turning off all power to the unit. Remove leaves and debris from the condenser outside.

TIP! If the fan on your condenser includes oil ports, they must be lubricated annually. You’ll see that the ports here are closed with a rubber or metal cap.

If there are condenser units as part of your HVAC system, clean them often as they tend to have lots of debris. Excess debris can really affect your system’s quality. Debris like this can cause it to overheat, which could be detrimental to your system.

TIP! To increase the efficiency of your HVAC unit, be sure to keep it in the shade. If the air your machine draws in is already cooler, it will require less energy to regulate before it’s filtered into your home.

Clean the fan blades and coils in your condenser each spring. First, the power should be turned off so things don’t move as you work. Then, pop off its grills, pull the blades out, and begin cleaning the unit and them gently.

TIP! As the temperature outside drops, remember to turn off your outdoor condenser unit. If the temperature outside is less than 60ºF, be sure to turn off the unit so that you don’t damage it.

Your outdoor HVAC units might suffer when your trees lose leaves. Make sure you clean out your fan grill often once nearby trees start shedding their leaves. The fan must stay clear in order to function, and if it gets blocked, you will have to contend with problems.

Hvac Systems

TIP! Service your HVAC unit at least one time a year. The motor should be checked, the parts oiled and the freon levels inspected.

Hopefully, you now understand more about HVAC systems in general. If you have a system in need of repair or replacement, you know what you need to do. Remember the tips here to help you with HVAC systems.
