College: You Are Not In High School Anymore

TIP! Set realistic goals when you schedule you work and classes. If mornings are tough for you, a morning class might be a terrible idea.

College is more than just the transition from high school to another school. It is a much different place with different responsibilities. Pay attention to everything when you plan, and work with your family to be sure you are prepared when the time comes.

TIP! If you are finding it difficult to be academically successful, find out if your college offers a course to help you with your study skills. College courses are different from high school and require a transition.

Before you go to college, make a short list of items you’ll need to bring with you. It is better to go school prepared instead of having to call your parents for things you need every week. You might not be able to get things from your parents if you are going to school far away from home.

TIP! Study as much as possible every day. The greater your dedication to studying, the more benefits you are sure to reap.

You’ll need grants and scholarships to get through college. Be sure to apply early. Spending more time looking for grants or scholarships will allow you to borrow less when it comes time to pay for school. Make sure that all documentation and fees are submitted in the proper time frame.

TIP! Do a practice run-through of your schedule prior to your first day of class. Plan your routes to get from class to class efficiently.

With a tight budget, it is likely you will need a loan to pay for college. College is an investment in your future. Consider all factors carefully, but don’t be afraid to take out a reasonable amount of debt to secure your future.

TIP! No matter who you are, try using the campus gym. You can form friendships with the more active members of your campus, and stay active yourself.

Familiarize yourself with your schedule and where your classes are before the first day of school. Determine the amount of time you need to travel from class to class, and plan accordingly. Also indicate other important places on your map.

TIP! Always get a good night’s rest Although young people feel indestructible, they actually need more sleep to function well than older people. Not getting enough rest can really have a negative impact on your whole college experience.

Involve yourself in several activities like clubs and advisory panels while in college. Participating in many different activities will help you improve your resume after college. However make sure to only take on what you can maintain on top of your school work.

TIP! To stay away from weight problems when you’re a freshman, try to monitor how many simple carbs you have in your diet. Avoid eating unhealthy foods.

NOw that you know a bit more about what college is like, start your plan! Having an understanding of what it means to be in college will help you have a successful transition.
