All The Help You Need To Maximize HVAC Success

Many people think that the HVAC system is too complicated for them to even learn about. This isn’t always true. Use the guide below to learn more.

TIP! If your HVAC system is acting up, take a tour of the house prior to calling a professional. Make note of which rooms are cold and which are hot.

If you struggle with your HVAC, try touring your home before calling a professional. Determine which rooms feel cold and which feel hot. This can help contractors quickly figure out the issue and how to fix it easily and quickly.

TIP! Before you ever begin looking for an HVAC contractor, first consider the entire job that you’ll need completed. If you can’t describe the problem, you may not get an accurate quote.

Be sure to clean the fan blades and coils of the condenser fan. First, the power should be turned off so things don’t move as you work. Then you need to get the grill popped off and get the blades out so you can clean them and your unit gently.

TIP! Clean the coils and blades in your condenser at the beginning of summer. If you are doing more than a light surface cleaning, make sure that the power is shut off to the HVAC unit.

As the trees around your home lose leaves, it can cause your HVAC unit trouble. When you see nearby trees shedding their leaves, clean the fan grill on your unit constantly. The fan needs to have an unobstructed path for air to enter the unit, and if it becomes blocked, you will end up with many headaches with the unit.

TIP! Be sure to regularly clean debris from external condenser units. Leaves, twigs and other troublesome objects can accumulate, particularly after very windy weather, and this will wreak havoc on your system.

Lubricate the oil ports on your condenser once each year. You will notice these ports have a rubber or metal cap covering them. Use a lightweight oil and do not overfill them.

TIP! Keep your outdoor units free of debris when you are mowing the lawn. Get the grass shot away from your unit.

When selecting the spot to put the outdoor compressor for your unit, choose somewhere that gets plenty of shade. If your unit is sucking in cooler air, it will have less work to do to cool that air as it sends it inside which boosts efficiency.

TIP! Leaves falling from trees can wreak havoc with your HVAC unit. When the leaves fall from nearby trees, clean the grill of your fan often.

Have the HVAC system serviced twice per year. The best time of year to have the system checked is right before the weather begins to change. Even if everything seems okay, it doesn’t hurt to check things out.

You should be able to implement these suggestions into your maintenance of your HVAC. Keep these tips at the ready. Start now to take care of your HVAC system.
