Successful HVAC Can Be At Your Fingertips

TIP! Before an HVAC expert comes to your home to do any repair work, walk around the home and check out the temps in every room. Figure out which rooms are hot and cold.

HVAC systems may be hard to understand to begin with, but if you have proper information, it won’t be that difficult. The following article will be of help if you want to know more about your HVAC unit. If this sounds interesting to you, then continue reading.

TIP! If you have units that are condensers outside of the home, keep them free of debris. Leaves, twigs and other troublesome objects can accumulate, particularly after very windy weather, and this will wreak havoc on your system.

Get all of the details regarding a broken system before calling for repair. Learn the brand and the model. This information will be helpful to any contractor you hire to repair it.

TIP! Every spring you need to make sure your condenser fan’s coils and blades on the fan part are clean. For safety, always turn the power off first.

It is important to have some knowledge of your present system and needs before calling a contractor. If you can’t describe the problem, you may not get an accurate quote. They also won’t be able to offer you a quote if they don’t have a detailed idea of what you want done. Thus, it is worthwhile to have this knowledge ahead of time.

TIP! Make sure that you do not cover your outdoor components with grass clippings when you are trimming the grass. Make sure you shoot the clippings in the other direction from the unit.

Cleaning the blades and coils will help the system run better. If you are doing more than a light surface cleaning, make sure that the power is shut off to the HVAC unit. Clean the outside of your condenser unit regularly.

TIP! Fall is a hard time on HVAC units. Cleaning your unit is very important for its effectiveness.

Leaves and debris can damage your system. Frequently clean the fan grill when trees are shedding leaves. Because the fan requires a clear path for air to enter, you may encounter issues with your system if the fan gets blocked up.

TIP! When selecting the spot to put the outdoor compressor for your unit, choose somewhere that gets plenty of shade. The unit will operate more efficiently to cool your home if the intake air is cooler to begin with.

If the condenser fan has oil parts, then you need to lubricate it at least once per year. They are usually fitted with a rubber or metal cap. Use SAE 20 oil that is lightweight and detergent free, and put ten drops or fewer into each one. Make sure not to overfill them.

TIP! Have the HVAC system checked twice a year at the least. This should be done in the fall and again in the spring.

You should be able to understand some great basic information that has been shared here with you. It is always a good idea to learn all you can about a topic. Use the tips here to help you get to work now!
