Save Cash By Getting Your HVAC Work Done The Right Way

TIP! Don’t hire a contractor until you know a little about what you are facing. This will make the quote process much easier.

Not everyone knows about working on HVAC systems. If so, it can be problematic when an issue arises. However, these suggestions will help you to make the best choices regarding your system.

TIP! Your outside condenser fan can be helped to run better by you cleaning the fan blades and coils prior to summer starting up. Shut off power before working or cleaning your system.

Before you choose someone to do HVAC work, figure out what they need to do for you. It will be difficult for an HVAC contractor to provide you with an estimate on the phone without knowing what your current setup is. They need to come look at the unit. Know the right information ahead of time.

TIP! Avoid showering your outdoor unit with grass clippings when you mow the lawn. Aim the grass clippings in the other direction.

To make sure your condenser fan works properly, keep the fan blades and the coils clean. Prior to working on or cleaning the unit, be sure to turn off the power. If you see debris, get rid of it.

TIP! Lubricate your fan condenser if it has oil ports. These ports have a metal covering.

If the outside of your home has condenser units, ensure they are constantly cleaned. Debris quickly gathers here, even more so if there is a storm. This can cause major issues with your system. Left unchecked, your unit is more likely to break down.

TIP! Your HVAC system should be checked a few times a year. This should be done in the fall and again in the spring.

Cover your unit when you are mowing the lawn. Have the grass shoot in the opposite direction. If you’re blowing leaves, this same problem can occur, so make sure you move around the unit and blow the leaves away from it.

TIP! Putting in a programmable thermostat is a smart way to cut back on air-conditioning costs. A programmable thermostat can save you up to ten percent on your cooling and heating costs by simply turning the thermostat back ten to fifteen percent for eight hours a day.

Lubricate your condenser yearly if it has oil ports. They generally have a rubber or metal cap on them. Look for an oil that is lightweight and then put about 10 drops inside the port. You don’t want to put in too much.

TIP! Service your HVAC yearly. When it’s checked out, the motor will be inspected, moving parts well oiled and the level of freon adjusted if necessary.

A tarnished HVAC can cause a lot of issues. But, with a little of research the problem may not be as big as you expect. Keep the information from this article handy so you can solve and issues that arise quickly and at a reasonable cost.
