No More Struggle – HVAC Success Is Yours!

TIP! Understand what you want before talking to a contractor. It is going to be hard to get a price estimate on the phone if the current system isn’t something they’ve seen.

A good HVAC system is a great thing to have in any home, but a bad one can give a homeowner a huge headache. If they break, they are very costly to get up and running again. Below, you will find tips to help you properly maintain your HVAC system so that you don’t ever have to go without it.

TIP! If the outside of your home has condenser units, ensure they are constantly cleaned. Wind can pile up all sorts of debris against its grill.

Be aware of the type of system that is installed in your home prior to calling a contractor to fix it. Look for the model and brand number. This will help make sure that the contractor you hire has all the necessary information.

TIP! During the fall, leaves can gather around your HVAC. At least twice a week, you need to clean the grill of your fan.

If your HVAC system is acting up, take a tour of the house prior to calling a professional. Make note of which rooms are cold and which are hot. That will help your repairman figure out where the problem is, and how he can fix it easily and quickly.

TIP! You must keep your HVAC systems oil ports lubricated annually. You’ll find these ports are covered with a metal or rubber cap.

Before you choose someone to do HVAC work, figure out what they need to do for you. They won’t be able to offer you a quote if they haven’t seen your system. They need to come look at the unit. Having this information handy will make the process much smoother.

TIP! When choosing the area for placing an outdoor compressor device, place it in a shady area. When your unit takes in cool air, it takes less energy to tool the air, thus boosting efficiency.

As the leaves are falling off the trees, your HVAC system can really take a hit. Be sure to clean your fan grill frequently when trees nearby are shedding. The fan needs to be able to get proper air inside without any blockages, and extra blockage can later develop into more serious problems.

TIP! Boost energy efficiency by putting your condenser unit in the shade. Your air conditioner won’t have to work so hard if the air is sucks in is already cool.

If your condenser comes with oil ports, you should lubricate it yearly. You will see rubber or metal caps covering the ports. Your oil should be an SAE 20. This particular oil is very lightweight and it only requires about 10 drops per port.

TIP! When it gets cold outside, the outdoor condenser unit should be turned off. If it’s less than 60 degrees outside, turn the unit off.

The HVAC system can determine your overall comfort level. Without proper maintenance of your HVAC system, your home will not be a comfortable place to be. Take these tips to heart and never forget about your HVAC system.
