Living Through College While Spending Less Money

TIP! Find out where the admissions office is located and visit it before choosing a college. Here you can find out about scholarships that the school offers.

Learn your schedule and the locations of your classes before school starts. This will help you to get to your classes on time. Scout out other important locations you’ll need to know, and circle them on a map.

TIP! It is important to stay active while in college. You are sure to make new friends and also keep your body healthy.

When the time has come for a test, see to it that you have everything that you need. Forgetting a calculator or your notes can mean the difference between passing and failing. Be sure to bring all of your own supplies. You cannot expect your teacher to have an extra for you.

TIP! Make sleep a priority. It can be tempting, especially when living in a dorm, to stay up all night and party and try to cram in studying, but you have got to get some good sleep.

Whether a girl or a guy, get to the gym on your campus as much as you can. You are sure to make new friends and also keep your body healthy. Ask your acquaintances to go workout with you to help you develop relationships.

TIP! If you have a credit card, pay off the balance each month. This will help you avoid late fees and interest.

If you’re taking exams, don’t skip breakfast. Even grabbing a quick snack like a piece of fruit or a cup of yogurt can make a big difference. Hunger can be a huge distraction during a test. Eating a balanced breakfast and bringing some snacks with you should help you remain focused.

TIP! If you wish to avoid the “freshman 15,” avoid eating too many simple carbs. Avoid eating too many snacks, sweets and fast foods.

Take the school bus. With the right timing, it can really help out on your commute to school. You can end up saving yourself a ton of time because you won’t need to hunt around for open parking spaces near the campus. You will also save yourself money on both gas and parking passes. It is also a way for you to “go green.”

TIP! Go for classes that make you think, rather than easy grade classes. Challenge yourself and you will reap the rewards.

To stay away from weight problems when you’re a freshman, try to monitor how many simple carbs you have in your diet. Do your best to reduce sweets and processed foods during meals. Pick food that is made with whole grains and add plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables for the energy you need to stay active and healthy. Protein is important, too, but you need other options.
