How To Make HVAC Equipment Purchases Easier

TIP! Prior to choosing an HVAC customer, try to have an idea of what you want done. It’s hard for these contractors to give phone estimates without seeing the current system you have.

You do not want to avoid the maintenance of your HVAC system. Are you looking for tips to help you keep your HVAC system running? The following article has helpful advice for you.

TIP! Be sure to clean external condenser units regularly. You never know when things can pile up, especially after a windy or rainy storm, and that can throw a wrench in your system.

Before you contact people to assist you in getting your system fixed, know what kind of system you’re working with in the first place. You need to know who manufactured the product and the item number. Also, get the maintenance records from your files if you have them. The contractor will likely need all of this information.

TIP! Lubricate your condenser yearly if it has oil ports. Most of these ports have some sort of protective cap covering them.

Make a circuit around your home before calling for help with your HVAC. You will be looking to see which of your rooms feel hotter or colder than they should be. This gives the repairer a starting point to work from.

TIP! Find a place that is shaded for your compressor. Your unit won’t have to work as hard to cool the inside air if the outside air it sucks from is cooler.

Help the outside condenser fan run efficiently by cleaning the coils and fan blades before the summer starts. If you are doing more than a light surface cleaning, make sure that the power is shut off to the HVAC unit. Also, be sure to clear leaves and debris from your condenser unit.

TIP! If you want things to be more efficient, get new units outside or have your current one moved into the shade. This will ensure cool air is sucked in, meaning less cooling must be done by the unit.

Be sure to clean external condenser units regularly. Particularly after bad weather, you should inspect your unit. Debris like this can cause it to overheat, which could be detrimental to your system.

TIP! As the temperature outside drops, remember to turn off your outdoor condenser unit. Once the temperature drops into the 50s, the unit should no longer be on.

Clean the fan blades and coils on the condenser fan every spring. Before you get started, cut the power. Take the grill off and pull the blades out to clean them.

TIP! Replace single pane windows by installing double pane, if possible. Try to insulate your windows to prevent air from being lost.

Some fan condensers may contain oil parts, and if yours does, ensure it is lubricated at least once per year. The port usually has either a rubber or metal cap on top of it. Look for an oil that is lightweight and then put about 10 drops inside the port. You don’t want to put in too much.

TIP! To cut energy costs, you should service your cooling and heating system once a year at least. During a maintenance visit, professionals can help by inspecting the system’s motor, oil the different moving parts as well as check the system’s freon levels.

It should now be apparent that you can prevent HVAC disasters with proper maintenance. If you don’t do this and your system breaks, the repair bill can be very costly. Make sure that this does not happen in your home; remember the advice that you read here.
