Although many people have an interest in learning about their HVAC, many believe it is too difficult to handle. That does not have to be how it is though. This piece can make it simpler.

Before calling for help, know the system you have. Learn the brand and the model. The contractor will likely need all of this information.

TIP! Clean the fan blades and coils on the condenser fan every spring. Before you do anything, however, turn the power off.

If your HVAC is running into problems, check out each room in your house before calling for assistance. Find out which rooms are hot and which are cold. Give this information to your contractor when they arrive.

Clean the coils of your condenser fan each month. Turn off your power before doing any job like this. Clean the outdoor condenser as well.

Clean your outdoor condensers often. Particularly after bad weather, you should inspect your unit. It can cause the unit to overheat and break down.

TIP! You must keep your HVAC systems oil ports lubricated annually. You’ll see that the ports here are closed with a rubber or metal cap.

Clean the fan blades and coils on the condenser fan every spring. Turn the power off so nothing moves. Then take off the grill, take the blades out, and gently clean them.

TIP! If you need to decide the best place to put your outdoor compressor unit, consider putting it in a location that is in the shade. This will limit the work that it has to do.

When you cut the grass, make sure your mower isn’t tossing clippings toward your outdoor units. Make certain the debris goes away from it. This also applies to blowing leaves or moving debris. Just be careful with that exterior HVAC unit.

TIP! Put outdoor units in the shade if you are installing them. Your air conditioner won’t have to work so hard if the air is sucks in is already cool.

Lubricate your fan condenser at least once a year. They are usually fitted with a rubber or metal cap. Get an oil that is SAE 20 and put about 10 drops into each port, but don’t overfill it.

Boost energy efficiency by putting your condenser unit in the shade. The air in the shade is cooler and can help save on energy costs.

TIP! If you can, use double-paned windows instead of single-paned ones. You can reduce your energy costs from energy leaking out through your windows by installing window that are double-paned.

HVAC maintenance isn’t terribly difficult, especially if you have some helpful advice like that found in the tips above. Without information such as that found above, the topic can be tough to crack. Start as soon as you can for the best results.
