College is more than just the transition from high school to another school. Actually, college life is different in nearly every way. The decisions you make will impact you throughout the rest of your life. Pay attention to everything when you plan, and work with your family to be sure you are prepared when the time comes.
Make sure to bring enough soap, shampoo, deodorant and any other toiletries you need. These items are important and tend to run out quickly due to frequent use. Consider buying in bulk as a means to save money.
Create a list of items that you are going to need to bring along to college. Being well prepared will allow you to be as self sufficient as possible. You might not be able to get things from your parents if you are going to school far away from home.
Carry a personal water bottle to school. Staying hydrated is an important but often-overlooked task. If you have little or no downtime between classes, this is an absolute must. Drinking water will also keep your brain focused. Look for a water fountain to refill your water bottle as necessary.
Check if there is a study skills class available. Students that do well in high school might be surprised by the work they are given in college. Study skills classes teach the skills necessary to do well in college.
Remember to keep eating healthy. The freshman 15 isn’t an exaggeration. Take great care in monitoring your eating. Stay away from fast food as much as you can. But fast food can quickly add up to extra pounds and extra money spent.
This article should have you well on your way to planning for your college experience. Your time in college is a time where you want to make sure that you have all your ducks in a row.
